One of the most popular cities worldwide and the second most populous city in the United States, the City of Angels needs little to no introduction. Previously ranked the fifth most popular and influential city in the world, Los Angeles is a global center for entertainment and international trade. L.A’s economy is driven largely by entertainment (Hollywood), international trade, manufacturing, and tourism, and in 2008 had a combined Gross Metropolitan Product of $831 billion, qualifying it as the third largest economic center in the world. An estimated one in every six of L.A’s residents work in ‘creative industries,’ which is in part why Los Angeles is often cited as the “Creative Capital of the World.” Compared to the rest of the country, the Los Angeles real estate market has been significantly more stable over recent years. Although median sales price is approximately $285,000 today (a decline of $290,000, or about 50%, when compared to 2006), the market appears to have leveled off much earlier than the rest of the country, as sales prices have demonstrated consistency since bottoming out in early 2009. Popular neighborhoods in Los Angeles include Hollywood Hills, Bel Air, West L.A, Brentwood, Westwood, and Silver Lake, all of which have featured properties in our comprehensive housing inventory at Houses.com!
